Do not worry
Do Not Worry
This is an advice to everyone reading this including me. As human as we all are, we tend to worry about how our lives turned out to be. As a student, I find myself worrying about whether I would be able to manage my finances well or if I submitted an assignment well done. Sometimes I tend to worry of my life after school but God exhorts us not to. Sounds easier to say than done, right?
Everyone is going through problems of varying magnitude and numbers but guess what, worrying never brings forth solutions, planning does. Worrying is thinking of all the things that could go wrong if you did or did not do something. But worrying only aggravates our problems; it never solves them for us. The Holy Bible tells us not to worry but to seek after His kingdom and his righteousness and all these things (job employment, promotions, healing, good grades, breakthrough, admission to college, approval of project, whatever it is you desire)shall be added unto you. I know it is easy to believe it because it is written in the Bible but it is sometimes difficult to accept it in times of crisis.
Bishop T.D. Jakes said something that really touched me. He said God will not always stop the storm for you, but He will give you peace in the midst of the storm. He will not stop all the commotion going on in the world for you but He will give you peace. In today’s world full of chaos, what we need most is peace. We must be at peace with God, with ourselves and with other people. We must be at peace in our spirit because we can’t manifest something we do not dwell in. All we have to do is to seek Jesus first and then all other things-the ones we have been praying and hoping for as well as the ones that eyes have not seen, ears have not heard nor those ever being conceived in mind will be added unto us. Isn’t this heartwarming to hear?
We just to trust God to do as He says. Sometimes I get overwhelmed by all things happening around me in school and I sometimes ask myself, does God really care? But at the end, He amazes me with He does. We have to let go of our worries and let God take control. Sometimes when we let God take control, we realize that we are finding ourselves in more mind-boggling, confusing, air-tight situations. What do we do? Sometimes we decide to take things into our own hands and try and play God. And when we get stuck, we come back to Him, crying and sometimes blaming Him for abandoning us but you know what, He always cares and He never leaves our side.
Talking of peace, we should be careful of what we derive our peace from. As the devil only seeks to steal, kill and destroy, we should not place our source of peace in material things like our jobs, our houses or some trophy because our enemy is not after our properties, he is after our peace so if he is able to take away those things, he steals our peace from us. So to prevent him from doing so, we should locate our source of peace within Jesus Christ himself. So whenever the devil robs of some earthly treasures, we would still have joy in our hearts because our peace is in God. And when he realizes that we are still at peace within our spirit, he would be bored with us and leave us alone.
Whenever we find ourselves worrying, we should find a quiet place in ourselves and spend some time with our sweet Prince of Peace and commune with Him. And trust me; you would feel some sweet soothing peace flooding through your very being. Then start thanking Him for already taking care of your problem because He has already taken care of it.
