DAUGHTER OF ZION

The phrase “daughter of Zion” appears 26 times in the Bible first in 2Kings 19:21 and lastly in Zechariah 9:9. Daughters of Zion were also referred to as daughters of Jerusalem which refer to the permanent beloved of God.

The Bible refers to the daughter of Zion as a virgin, undefiled before God (Isaiah 37: 22), she is also a child of covenant and the Lord will reward her for all the good she does (Isaiah 62:11); she is beautiful (Lamentations 1:6).

Some things God hates about the Daughter of Zion include:

  • Haughtiness and Pride (Isaiah 3:16), walking with stretched necks and wanton eyes( lack of shame).

Some judgments on the daughter are:

  • Scalp disease ( Isaiah 3: 16-17), being stripped naked (Isaiah 3:17)
  • Curse of a stink instead of a sweet smell (Isaiah 3:24), baldness instead of healthy hair
  • Branding (branding, scars) instead of beauty.

Restoration of Zion

  • Only good things will enter her (Isaiah 52:1-2)
  • She will get everything she loses (Obadiah 1:17)
  • She will be the Lord’s friend (Isaiah 51:16)
  • She should learn a new song and practice singing it (Zephaniah 3:14).
