METHODIST PRESBYTERIAN STUDENTS UNION DELIVERANCE TEAM MISSION STATEMENT FOR 2010/2011 SPIRITUAL / ACADEMIC YEAR
PREAMBLE The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound Isaiah 61:1.
VISIONS/ GOALS To strengthen the personal relationship between God and every team member. To help members have grounds/ roots in the Word through weekly bible study. To increase members’ knowledge on deliverance issues and counseling procedures. To increase the team’s membership. To provide quality deliverance sessions for members of MPU and beyond. To clear misconceptions and educate members of the Union on deliverance issues. To enhance the social lives of members. To help team members develop prayer outlines. STRATEGIES Ensure at least an hour prayer and bible reading once a day for every member. Aside team’s morning prayers, personal prayer times at dawn will be enforced. Retreats will be organised to improve the prayer and spiritual lives of members. Members will be provided with materials for weekly personal bible studies. Workshops will be organised to teach and train members to understand and handle deliverance issues as well as undertake thorough pre and post-counseling sessions. Sheets will be made available at MPU services for interested persons to put down their details. Freshers will also be oriented and encouraged to join the team. Team members will always be present at MPU retreats, revivals and half nights to help ministers handle whatever cases that arise. Members will also follow-up on MPU members to ensure quality and complete deliverance. Team members will attend morning devotions and other subgroup meetings to give talks and educate them on deliverance issues when invited. Members’ social lives will be impacted through member visitations, mentor-mentee and talks on various issues such as finance and relationships. Members will be taught how to develop prayer outlines, raise prayer topics and lead prayer sessions.
CONCLUSION Man proposes but God disposes. It is therefore our prayer that our vision will be acceptable to God; and that He will grant us the enabling strength and power to fulfill it. Deliverance… by the Word!
